JAMES MADISON QUOTE - 1822

"A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives."

New "Cracker Barrel, Old Country Store" or the New "Buena Vista" Restaurant?"

Site of a new Cracker Barrel Old Country Store or the new Buena Vista Restaurant between Home Depot and Zaxby's, on the service road? A look at the Cracker Barrel's new opening sites reveals it is not listed: http://www.crackerbarrel.com/trip-newstore.cfm?doc_id=18 Recently a City Official had informed me a Cracker Barrel will be coming to town.

Just read the article on the Daily Sentinelweb site. It looks like they did a pretty good article. Were you happy with it?

I take it you are refering to the article titled "Vigilant Political Watchdog." Mr. Patterson had asked if he could write a story on me, I told him no problem. We met at the amphitheater at Goose Pond and walked out to the river, as I wanted to show him the area and pass on to him a little about the history of the area and its importance to the development of Scottsboro and Jackson County, besides it was where I grew up. Interesting story as to his take on the interview, I liked it.

There are 2 underlying messages. 1) I'm no one special, just another guy in town that cares about our government. Everyone has the right and responsibility to keep our public officials informed concerning our expectations and direction. The individual citizen should not be afraid or hesitate to express themselves in public or private over concerns of our government. 2)Education is the key to success. Although I quit high school and my teen years were full of wrong decisions, there is always a way and means to improve ones self in life, if there is effort, structure and opportunity.
