Jackson County Commission Work Session


Citizen Comments: Mrs. Ralph Starkey spoke to the Commission concerning an upcoming agricultural and livestock show. Several youths participate in showing livestock. Mrs. Starkey displayed pictures and told of the success of our young people participating in agricultural projects. She requested the commission provide funds for a public purpose in supporting Jackson County Agriculture at regional and state shows. The commissioners discussed different levels of funding for this project. Mr. Porter, County Attorney, stated money could be provided if their was a public purpose.

The following items were discussed at the work session: 1) Position at Public Works; 2) Sheriffs Department, reimbursement of accumulated leave, discuss jail maintenance. 3) Discussion of maintenance position. 4) Discussion of road paving.

The County Commission adjourned into another lengthy Executive Session, approximately 50 minutes, for the purpose to discuss pending litigation. The Sheriff Dennis Miller and the Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips were present in the Executive Session for approximately 20 minutes. The commission returned and adjourned the meeting.
