Scottsboro City Council Mar. 25, 2013

 
Monday was a regular meeting of the Scottsboro City Council.
 
County Property Tax repayment issue was tabled until an inquiry will disclose exact cause of the $188,000 error. A copy of the state audit indicating the error will be requested.
 
The new First Monday Ordinance (copy below) was adopted. The ordinance must be posted in the local newspaper before it is final. Reserved spaces for the historical vendors are marked with a red line on the side of the space numbers.

Scottsboro City Council, Mar. 18, 2013 - First Monday Change

 
Monday was a work session of the Scottsboro City Council.
 
The Jackson County Revenue Commission overpaid the City of Scottsboro over $188,000 for the  2010-2011 tax year in Property Taxes according to Jackson County Revenue Commissioner Ronnie Crawford. This error was noted during a state audit of the Revenue Commission. Crawford stated the computing error was corrected prior to the 2012 tax payment disbursal. The error affected all municipalities in Jackson County.
 
The school system, city bond fund and the city general fund will each be responsible for repayment of approximately $63,000 each. The city council is expected to vote on the repayment during next Monday's regular meeting.
 
First Monday Weekend Tradeday Event will be first come first serve begining with the March 30 thru April 1st Event. The Scottsboro Cruise-In will begin on Saturday March 30. Historical full time vendors will have red marked space numbers and were grandfathered in for an assigned space.

Jackson County Commission, Mar. 18, 2013 Work Session

 
Monday Mar. 18, 2013 was a Work Session of the Jackson County Commission.
 
Water, Fire Hydrants, Emergency Services and drainage were issues brought forward by 8 citizens living on Co. Rd 820 off of the Old Larkinsville Rd.. "We've been ignored by the city and ignored by the county.We had a fire, no one came...they could not find us;" claims Ms. Michelle Cook spokesperson for the County Road 820 residents.

Weekend Flooding in the Courthouse, apparently a stopped up toilet in the District Attorneys Office would not shut off and flooded the District Attorneys Office and the Sheriffs Office downstairs. Damage to furniture and the ceiling on the first floor was reported.
