JAMES MADISON QUOTE - 1822

"A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives."

Comments at NRC Scoping Session by Public Officials

Mr. James Tidmore, Chairman Jackson County Commission: "Jackson county can take no other position than to support the TVA in building the reactor facility." "People that are against this facility are misguided and uninformed." I guess the 2 nuclear physicist that spoke in opposition to the facility are less educated than himself on nuclear energy.

Jimmy Sandlin, Electric Power Board Manager: "We are not here to discuss energy policy." "Nuclear energy costs 1.5 cents per KW hr." This statement is untrue, it is in excess of 6 cents per KW hr., http://www.citizen.org/publications/release.cfm?ID=7073

There are some more but my favorite was made by Terry Couch, Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, "George W. Bush supports nuclear reactors, we should support nuclear reactors."

Scary or ignorant? These are our leaders? Maybe narrow minded, uneducated thoughts like these from our local leaders over the years are why we are in the shape here-not Bellefonte. Please remember these people at election time.

No, that is moderation or censorship. Communism relates to an economic system or type of government. There are no true communistic government types just as there are no true democracies. There are many socialistic government types and economic practices. The more government becomes involved into your personal life, the more socialism you receive.

I find it odd that you only seem to post negative comments for nuclear power.... I also find it rather odd that you had to go all the way to North Carolina to find a group to help you with your cause. Furthermore, I would like to know where Nurse ? witnessed radiation burns (her words, not mine) caused by a nuclear accident? It would be my guess that the radiation burns she witnessed were from radiation to cancer patients. Would you rather the cancer patients die or cancer or be treated with that works? Never-the-less, the world needs more energy and unless you have an excess supply of oil or gas in your backyard that you would like to share with the rest of the world, I think you should be thankful that we live in a society that has the forethought to build nuclear power plants..... France powers 80% of the country on nuclear power...we, on the other hand, only power 20%. What is wrong with this picture? Also, in your literature you reference material that is over 30 years old! Hmmm....I do believe the world ha made progress in 30 years!

I think what anonymous was referring to as censorship has to do with YOU approving all comments before they are posted for viewing on the blog. Is that freedom of speech?
