JAMES MADISON QUOTE - 1822

"A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives."

McAnelly Cemetery Photo Tour

Last Monday evening's City Council Work Session a discussion occurred about the McAnelly Cemetery located near the River Bridge off of Alabama Hwy. 35. Military veterans spanning 200 years of our history are buried within this hallowed ground.
>
Unmarked graves are present to include slave burials as reported in the city council discussion.
>
The McAnelly Cemetery is full of Jackson County history as this photo tour demonstrates.
