Scottsboro High School student Lauren Long was elected by the student body to serve on the Scottsboro City Council as a student representative for last nights meeting. Very seldom do we see the future of our community in our local governmental meetings. Congratulations to Ms. Long.

I haven't been to Scottsboro in a decade, though I've lived for almost a decade nearby in Huntsville. I moved from Greenwich Village to take care of my mother; after she died I remained in Huntsville. I plan to visit someday soon, perhaps in January. I have a friend there, Clyde Broadway, I haven't seen in awhile.

Scottsboro has changed, I've heard, in good ways and bad ways. I hope that the good is more. I thank you for your blog. I hope that the Scottsboro Boys museum does not just become just condemnation, but something positive.
Thank you for your comment. Stop by and see us. We plan a grand opening in February to kick off Black History Month.
The museum will be about education. Specifically educating the public to the relevance of the Scottsboro Boys Case and the struggles and accomplishments of the Civil Rights Movement.
