Jackson County Commission Meeting

The Chair Dilemma


Once all was settled the commission began their business. Item I was added to the agenda which involved the hire of a new Personnel Manager. A motion was made by Mr. Allen, there was no second nor discussion before the vote. 
Ms. Marilyn Goolesby of Dutton Alabama was selected as the Jackson County Personnel Director.

Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program
 ATRIP is an ALDOT administered federal aid highway program that funds up to 80% of the construction of important roadway projects. Local sponsors of eligible projects are expected to provide at least 20% of the project construction cost.

Item G on the agenda: Jackson County has already received $1.5 million in the Phase 1 part of the project. Phase 2 the county will receive $3.5 million for road and bridge improvements. The bridge on County Road 151 south of Pisgah will be rebuilt. This is a dangerous, narrow bridge with no side rails.

The next work session will be on August 27, 2012 at 3:30 PM. The regular meeting will be held afterwords.

A 20 minute Executive Session was held concerning the good name and character of an employee. No action was taken after the session and the commission meeting was adjourned.
