Scottsboro City Council Meeting
Monday August 13 was a regular Scottsboro City Council meeting. Agenda synopsis: 1) Vacancies and positions were announced- a)Vacancies for Municipal Judge and Assistant Municipal Judge; b) Vacancy for 2 Municipal Prosecutors; c) 2 Vacancies on the Water Sewer and Gas Board, the WSG Board appointment is for 6 years. All requests for positions must be provided to the Scottsboro City Clerk by Wednesday September 5, 2012 no later than 4:30 PM. 2) A resolution was approved to donate 40 radios to the Jackson County Rescue Squad. 3) Carr Engineering was approved to provide a design plan to the city concerning the rebuild of the old Derrick Building front facade. The Derrick Building on the north side of the square was destroyed by fire earlier this year. The plan was stated to cost $5800.00. Carr Engineering will make a presentation to the City Council next Monday Night. Mayor Potter also stated it has been estimated the building front facade will cost approximately $25,000. The Derrick family donated the property to the City of Scottsboro. 4) The resolution authorizing pay for the City Clerk to serve as the Election Manager for City Elections was rescinded. It was stated it is part of the City Clerks job description to be the election manager.
