EXCEPTION to the official orders from the Governor, Department of Public Health
and our Mayor concerning the current viral pandemic health protection orders involving closing of
non-essential services, schools and recreation activities.

The SECRET EXCEPTION - Rec
Com employees are baby sitting Scottsboro employee’s children. A public
official reports there are 3 employees, providing child care on a rotational
basis for Scottsboro employees, this employee expressed concerns over the
safety of employees and children because of possible viral disease contacts.
Reports indicate there are 2-5 children being cared for during this viral
pandemic emergency while their parents are working in the city performing their
duties.
City Council members
replies ranged from “I’ll defer to the Mayor for any comments;” “I appreciate
your interaction, more citizens need to be involved; we have not approved this
action.” One city council member has not replied to my message. The President
of the City Council replied by telephone to my message. The mayor has not
replied to my message regarding this subject. Note: The Mayor is responsible
for day to day activities involving the city, the city council is responsible
for the allocation of funds, city ordinances and policies. The use of city
resources, employees and city department policies involves both the Mayor and
Council.
UPDATE Friday April 3, 2020: The child care program at the Rec Com will be discontinued today, Friday April 3, 2020 at close of business. Family Emergency leave programs may be utilized during this viral pandemic disease crisis.
