JAMES MADISON QUOTE - 1822

"A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives."

According to the information O’Shields gave me Blizzard provided the City Council with bad information, Matthew Hodges asked Blizzard how often bids were opened for the curbside. Blizzard stated 3 or 4 times a year and that the City was collecting 250 tons per year of curbside material.

Bids were opened on these dates:
10/01/2009
08/18/2010
02/09/2011
11/03/2011
They said they had 100 tons each time except for 11/03/2011 when they said they had 130 tons. This is basically a 25 month period so if they emptied the warehouse on 10/01/09 they had generated 330 tons in the 25 month period, an average of 13.2 tons per month. 13.2 tons per month for a year equals 158 tons, a far cry from the 250 tons per year that he told you they were recycling.

Keith Smith was awful quick with his accolades about the recycling and how much money it saves the City, regardless of the cost or so he said. Isn’t it interesting that in the same 25 month period my business recycled 625 tons of like material at absolutely no cost to the City? Almost double the curbside.

Once again Blizzard painted a glowing picture of his recycling efforts using bad information and no one will know the difference. Math does not lie.

Maybe he was just wrong. It does not matter. Everyone in Scottsboro heard him state they were picking up about 250 tons per year and the City’s own records tell the real story that this is not true.

By the way he also stated they asked for bids three or four times a year. Wrong again.

You should verify my information I got from O’Shields. Maybe she made a mistake. Also check my math and my logic. Second party verification is great.
