JAMES MADISON QUOTE - 1822

"A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives."

Scottsboro City Council and Budget Hearings - October 10, 2016

Scottsboro City Hall, photo by G. Morgan

If you will notice the Scottsboro City Hall is small in this weeks edition of the City Council Report. I didn't attend yesterdays festivities as nuclear issues and friends were more important.

However, this significant event has been reported. Was there anything more important than what occurred yesterday? The wise men in the room decided that the ballfield will cost, once again, 1.7 million dollars of your tax money, from a start price of $1million. Previously it was decided that the cost could be lowered to approximately $1.2 million, now it has been decided, once again, that the cost will be the old $1.7 billion. A $500,000 cost overrun and the project has yet to begin.

AGENDA
Everything on the agenda was probably approved as is customary.
Inside scoop, could it be that Tony Wallingsford will be placed into the vat for the next City Council President?

Current City Council President, Patrick Stewart

Council Member Tony Wallingsford
