JAMES MADISON QUOTE - 1822

"A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives."

Political Extremism and Hateful Speech Leads to Violence

Sarah Palins Gun-sight Ad targeting Democrat politicians. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/24/sarah-palins-pac-puts-gun_n_511433.html
.
Specific facts I have noticed common to all political extremists, they transfer all responsibility to the opposition and they never take responsibility for their actions or comments.
.
In the wake of the shooting in Tuscon, Arizona which left 6 dead and 14 injured, the dead included a Federal judge and a child, the injured included a United States Congress woman who was the target of shooter Jared Loughner. News reports released have indicated Loughner planned the attack on Congress Woman Gabrielle Giffords. Story Link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110111/ap_on_re_us/us_congresswoman_shot
.
There is much controversy concerning the political rhetoric of Republican extremists. Noted quotes of right wing extremist and propagandists who make money and gain publicity from spreading hate and insanity:

1. Rush Limbaugh: "I tell people don't kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus – living fossils – so we will never forget what these people stood for."

2. Senator Phil Gramm: "We're going to keep building the party until we're hunting Democrats with dogs."

3. Rep. James Hansen on Bill Clinton: "Get rid of the guy. Impeach him, censure him, assassinate him."

4. John Derbyshire intimated in the National Review that because Chelsea Clinton had "the taint," she should "be killed."

5. Ann Coulter: "We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too."

6. Ann Coulter: "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building."

7. Bill O'Reilly: "Those clowns over at the liberal radio network, we could incarcerate them immediately. Will you have that done, please? Send over the FBI and just put them in chains."

8. Clear Channel radio host Glenn Beck said he was "thinking about killing Michael Moore" and pondered whether "I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it," before concluding: "No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong?"

9. Mel Gibson on Frank Rich: "I want to kill him. I want his entrails on a stick. I want to kill his dog."

10. Fresno, Ca. City Council Member Jerry Duncan in 2003 wrote in an email that police should "Cap" members of the Human Relations Commission and wrote, "If I had one dirty bomb and I could eliminate all the liberals in Fresno at once." When his comments became public, Duncan said "The response I have gotten from the public on this has been 100% supportive."

11. Right winger backer and often a TV guest, Ted Nugent calling for violence against Democrats - http://vyan.blogspot.com/2007/08/nugent-calls-for-violence-against.html

12. "Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder: Savage Solutions" by Michael Savage, conservative radio talk show host. One of the books in which murderer Jim David Adkisson had in his possession. Adkinson stated he was motivated to kill liberals and Democrats. He entered a church in Knoxville, Tn and began a murder spree. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Knoxville_Unitarian_Universalist_church_shooting

Rachel Maddow, "A Summary of Death Threats by the Right Wing Extreme" (Aug 2009)

.
When does political speech cross over the line of responsible speech? A discussion concerning the issue from "Crooks & Liars:" Does hateful rhetoric really lead to violence? History gives us the clear answer: yes
.
Trusting Washington politicians to act responsibly concerning this issue leaves this writer very uneasy. Already the extremists on the left are discussing limitations on political speech where "perceived threats" are involved. The threat seems to be originating from extremists on the left and right. I wonder if the "Speech Police" will come and haul me away for this speech?
**
UPDATE: FBI finds evidence Loughner planned the attacks, from NPR. "FBI Director Robert Mueller confirmed that authorities "believe we have indication that he [Loughner] attended a similar event" to the one held on Saturday."
.
"Investigators also say they found an envelope in which the words "I planned ahead," "My assassination" and "Giffords" were scrawled." http://www.npr.org/2011/01/10/132780010/vitriol-cited-as-possible-factor-in-arizona-tragedy?ft=1&f=1001

Right Wing Extremist Thugs

Macedonia Crossroads, Wilke's Store a few moments after noon time on Friday June, 25, 2010. This picture is a testament that I will not be intimidated by extremist thugs within our community. Threats have been made on al.com's Scottsboro forum: http://www.al.com/forums/scottsboro/index.ssf posting string # 7276, the poster commented to me, "come on out to Wilke's store at Macedonia cross roads tomorrow at high noon and we will have a little face to face chat...I need to go to the store sometime tomorrow anyway, may as well kill two birds with the same stone... I will be wearing blue coveralls sitting on the bench in front of the store."

I believe that good people live at Macedonia and the ignorant comments by some in no way reflect on the community of Macedonia. The bench at the noon hour is empty.

Attacks and threats began in December of 2009 when it was announced that the Scottsboro Boys Museum would be opening. Threats have included burning the museum and threats to the President of the United States and other despicable threats. All threats related to terrorism were immediately turned over to the Scottsboro Police Department. If an investigation occurred I was not informed, I was the one which made the initial complaints.

Since I have indicated I will be running in the Scottsboro City Council election against incumbent Keith Smith threats have taken on a new fervor on al.com's Scottsboro Forum, these threats and slanderous attacks are pointed directly at me.

The bottom line, I will not be intimidated and will vigourously defend my person, my family, my home, my community and my nation against terrorist threats, intimidation and simple minded extremist thugs.

Political Strategy, Media and Propaganda/ Maskirovka in Action

The new face of the Republican Party exposed, deceit, extremism, propaganda.
The TVA is directly connected to local political deceit. In their efforts to build and spend 10's of billions of dollars on new nuclear construction the TVA is waging a propaganda campaign of unprecedented proportions. To include directly intervening in the local political process to garner support.

What seems to be internet trolls are sometimes not trolls at all. But an intentional effort to disrupt for the purpose of political control of discussion forums. This current technique is being utilized on "al.com's Scottsboro forum."

Intelligence and Propaganda. The old Soviet/Russian technique of the Political Maskirovka is being utilized by the Republican Party on local discussion forums and political action within rural areas of Alabama.
>
Forum notes and tactics. On "al.com's" Scottsboro forum an interesting communication trend has developed. Previously censorship was utilized as a tool to eliminate unwanted political discussion. Advanced techniques of political propaganda are now being utilized.
>
One person or group names utilized on the same page for the purpose of disruption. 9 names, same pattern of word usage, same theme in their speech. The names: kosmocramer, thebanditt, HarbourTown, indianplaya, takemeback2yesteryear, 1sttofight, statelottery, joepepitone, androsteve.
>
This is my theory on the situation based on observation, consistent trends of communicative action by the individual or group, interviews and intelligence gathering: All names above used on this forum page initiated by the same person or group of people working in a coordinated attempt to disrupt speech within this forum. This effort has been occurring since the forum was reinstated approximately 5 years ago. However, the effort has dramatically increased within the past year.
>
All have several common factors. 1) Right wing extremist oriented; 2) intentional attacks; 3) bigoted expression; 4)intentional disruption; 5) pander to those who support right wing extremism; 6) high probability of political motivation by the Republican Party; 7) high probability supported and coordinated by media and Republican Party political staff for the sole purpose of preventing open discussion of political topics.
>
In this case, it seems if you do not support the radical ideology of right wing extremism of the Republican Party an attempt is made to radically alter the use of the forum for communications and discussion.
>
An increase of right wing extremist speech has been noted as follows: 1) discussion of the TVA's nuclear plant construction at Bellefonte; 2)since the election of President Obama; 3) creation of the Scottsboro Boys Museum and Cultural Center.
>
A change in tactics. Censorship as a tool for suppression of political speech previously utilized has waned for the use of more advanced communicative propaganda techniques.
>
Word from Huntsville has it the Huntsville Times will stop covering news items in Jackson, Marshall and Dekalb Counties in a couple of months via closure of the Times Bureau in northeast Alabama. This makes me wonder about the influence of the Republican Party in this deal?
>
Northeast Alabama is a strong Blue Dog Democrat area. It seems the Republicans have to resort to surreptitious tactics, such as DR. Griffith's party switch and formation of "hidden" rural political groups to gain political ground.
>
It has been discovered that the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), http://alcofcc.wordpress.com/ has become involved in various positions within the Republican Party as well as having leadership support in media outlets. The CCC is a group which supports right wing extremist ideology and racism.
