TVA Rate Increases

The TVA reports that it will increase its rates by double digits. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2008/aug/06/tva-says-big-rate-increase-coming/ The question, are they being truthful in the reason for their rate increases, higher costs for coal is the reason listed? Since they refuse to disclose the proposed financial costs and their financing plans for Bellefonte Nuclear Construction in their Nuclear License Application, how do we know they are being truthful about the reason for double digit rate increases?

"The Bush administration has criticized TVA for its excessive debt and lack of plans to reduce it. TVA has now announced a plan to avoid going further into debt by having its distributors issue tax-free bonds, and then prepay TVA for future power deliveries. Since 2000, TVA has leased 24 combustion turbine power plants to private investors in exchange for cash up front; TVA leased the plants back for the generation output. Both these leaseback and prepay plans have substantially the same impact as debt on TVA’ s financial condition. In fact, this is very costly debt at that. Further, the distributors will become more financially leveraged. So rather than developing and implementing a plan to work itself out of debt, TVA is digging itself and its distributors deeper into financial trouble."

National Policy changes depending on the amount of money pouring into campaign coffers. The Bush Administration's "secret energy policy" now seems to support TVA further increasing its debt. The NEI, Nuclear Energy Institute, has been successful in funneling millions of dollars into political campaign coffers via their Political Action Committee.

They also fail to mention how the rising costs of nuclear construction will result in higher rates. Very convenient omissions on the part of TVA. Only a government agency could get by with the mismanagement and intentional misinformation. TVA's total financial obligations are in excess of $56 billion dollars (TVA's, SEC Form 10Q). TVA's debt is backed by the resources of the Federal Government thus contributing to our national debt.

Nuclear Information from Nuclear Information and Resource Service

An excellent pamphlet has been released concerning propaganda about Nuclear Power from the Nuclear Information Resource Service (NIRS). http://www.nirs.org/falsepromises.pdf The nuclear industry is conducting a disinformation/misinformation program, propaganda, concerning Nuclear Power. The nuclear industry's PAC, Nuclear Energy Institute, appears to be responsible for the propaganda campaign deceiving the public. Information concerning the hazards of radiation are also contained on the NIRS site. http://www.nirs.org/radiation/radiationhome.htm The NIRS site contains a wealth of information concerning the dangers of Nuclear Power.

Education Fund Diversions, Jackson County Alabama

2 years ago I was presented with a group of documents, they demonstrated the possibility that a crime had been commited against the citizens of Jackson County Alabama. This crime involved the diversion of Educational Funds from the coffers of Jackson County Board of Education to the Town of Henagar, Alabama, Henagar is located in Dekalb County. Upon contacting city officials in Henager, Alabama I discovered Henagar did not have a School System. I was also informed by Henagar officials, "this is the way business is accomplished."

Since the documents had the names of Lowell Barron on them I attempted to inquire about these documents to Mr. Barron, first by letter, which was never answered, then by personal interview which was denied. I also contacted the current Board of Education Superintendent, Mr. Jeffrey, his reply to me was that he could not answer any questions about these transactions but he did state to me, "fund transfers of this nature will never occur on my watch."

These documents were turned over to local media, however they were never published and it appears there was no media inquiry published concerning the fund diversion.

Recently the documents were forwarded to the Attorney General of Alabama, Mr. Troy King, requesting an investigation. Also included were documents related to other fund diversions by the Legislative Delegation of Jackson County.

The documents reflect a total of $300, 000 of Education Funds diverted from Jackson County to a non existant school system in the town of Henagar, Alabama, in adjacent Dekalb County. These fund transfers occured between December 1999 and January of 2000. There is a large question remaining. What was the total amount taken, these fund transfers reflect $300K for a 2 month period.? Was there more and why has this not been explained or investigated as there are several others that were aware of this transaction prior to me receiving the documents? Maybe the Attorney General can offer some explanations.

Tyrants at it Again

Once again the New Jersey Media Moguls, Advance Internet, al.com, in conjunction with the local Democrat Party and the TVA have engaged in their common practice of censorship. Previously the censors would temporarily ban the poster. This time around it is a permanent ban, elimination of the account. This is the 11th instance of political censorship, which I'm aware, that has resulted in the removal of citizens accounts that were discussing topics of a political nature and not in violation of al.com's forum policy.

Subjects discussed this time around: Lowell Barron, local Democrat Party lies, TVA and Nuclear Energy Institute, dangers of nuclear power, Browns Ferry problems, TVA secret financing scheme for nuclear reactors, criminal Acts of the Democrat and Republican Parties and abortion. All postings were removed, discussion of these issues and the poster "orobsttocs1" has been permanently banned. This blog, "Watch for Snakes 'n Scottsboro," was formed due to corporate media and government censorship of political speech. Bringing to the public's attention the actions of large corporate media, politicians, governments officials and corporate entities who would endeavor to censor responsible political speech in the United States of America.

It would seem the local Democrat Political powers, the TVA along with the Nuclear Energy Institute and Advance Media/Internet, al.com, do not care for freedom of expression and reasonable discussion of these issues. They are tyrants of the sort which King George would have been proud. It makes me sick that our country and national media has become a tool for corporate politicians and their corporate handler's schemes of deception. Even more sickening is the fact that many of my fellow citizens continue to elect and tolerate criminal politicians and the mountains of lies they generate. It seems that citizens have came to accept and expect that their political leaders will lie and commit crime.

Locally, when unsavory and sometimes criminal acts are shown to have been committed by local politicians and institutions such as the TVA, their corporate handlers perform their acts of tyranny and arrange for local forum postings on al.com to be removed. That is the reason for this blog as there is an active attempt to block citizen thoughts placed into speech. It seems the idea of open expression about political entities and the media is an unbearable conversation for some of our community and corporate leaders.

In Scottsboro, Alabama all this expression and open discussion is a relatively new tool in the support of citizen involvement, education and responsible expression. The local Democrat Party tyrants have attempted to "keep the citizens in their place." It has only been within the past 6 years that responsible citizen speech was allowed at the Scottsboro City Council Meetings, the County Commission still does not allow open citizen speech to express concerns at its meetings. Many times I have been told, "leave town if you don't like the local Democrat Party."

Al.com Scottsboro forum only came about within the past 3 years. There is a battle to control political speech on the Scottsboro al.com forum. If the speech doesn't agree with local politicians, local corporate media's slant, or support corporations such as the TVA, the speech is removed, censored.

It has been evident that the speech removal was the result of government officials intervention. In one instance government officials were caught in the act of censorship concerning discussion of illegal acts concerning management of Goosepond Colony, freely admitting the deed, as if government initiated censorship is a respectable thing to do and not a violation of an individual's rights and the denigration of our community. Corporate media in conjunction with political parties have become the facilitator of creating human mushrooms - "keep them in the dark and feed them crap."

Scottsboro City Council Work Session

1) Health Care for Jail Inmates. Presentation by Southern Health Partners concerning contracting for City Jail Inmates health care screening. 2) Animal Control Ordinance presentation by City Attorney. Several changes will be suggested for implementation. a) Animals must be on a leash in a residential or commercial property off of owners property. b) Change in "at large" definitions . c) Time frame to acquire Dog Tag License to be in conjunction with purchase of Rabies Annual Vaccination Tag. 3) Industrial Development Board report on upcoming expiration of 2 board members. 4) Medical Clinics Board, 1 member and Zoning Board of Adjustment, 2 members and 2 alternates, both boards deadline for applications extended to Aug. 14 at 12 noon. Citizen Comment: Linda Green stated they had purchased property on the new island development and had several questions for the Council which she presented to the council to be answered in next Mondays Public Hearing on the Zoning Application of the Industrial area, old Scottsboro Aluminum Plant. The packet of questions presented to the council was approximately 3-4 inches thick.

TVA and the NRC Complicit in Deceiving the Public.

Financial Information hidden, restricted due to the TVA being broke. Even the TVA admits in their NRC application they can't explain how they will pay for the nuke plants by their omissions of facts and attempts at hiding their financial statements of construction. Although the COL Application, Part 1 states that the application contains "no restricted data" they do not disclose to the public how they will pay for the plant, COL Application, Part 1 Administrative and Financial Information, pages 1.1-7 thru1.1-12. They contradict their own COL Application and refuse to produce a financial disclosures by stating the information is "proprietary info, not to be disclosed." The NRC states an organization must give financial disclosures to demonstrate they are capable of building Nuclear Reactors. The TVA coupled with the NRC has deceived the public and has not released and refuses to release financial disclosures due to the TVA violating the TVA Act in exceeding their Debt Cap of $30 billion.
